Product Details
Go wide, go tough, go warm. That’s the philosophy behind the newest addition to the Widebody family. Built to thrive in even the coldest environments (down to a frigid -50°C/-58°F), it packs 600 grams of Thinsulate™ insulation that forms a fortress against the chill. Behind the full grain waterproof leather is a seam-sealed waterproof/breathable membrane that lets body vapour escape while keeping you dry from the elements. The Comfortzone™ footbed supports you from heel to toe while the oil- and slip-resistant, non-marking rubber outsole stays flexible when the temperature plummets. With a comp toe, comp plate and ESR safety built in, winter has met its match.

About These Icons

Protection ID 3mThinsulate

3M™ THINSULATE™

THINSULATE™ insulation works by trapping air molecules between you and the outside. The more air a material traps in a given space, the greater its insulating value. Because the microfibers in Thinsulate™ Insulation are finer than other fibers, they trap more air in less space, which naturally makes it a better insulator.

Great boots, but not fit for me.

"The boots were almost perfect, if my foot was wider, I would have kept them. Though I had another pair of Kodiak boots that were just wide and they fit perfect and lasted 3 years."

Do not buy if you want warm winter work boots

"I want to preface this review by stating that I’m an Ontario based framing contractor who has worked a decade of winters and tried dozens of boots. I am no stranger to spending long days in the cold. The boot construction seemed good, but the claims about temperature tolerance and comfort rating are wildly inaccurate. I was working in central Ontario this year, over a period where the temperature was averaging about -15C with wind chill (-20C in the evenings) and my feet were regularly very cold in these boots. I eventually experienced frostbite (required 2 days off to recover) and was forced to buy a new pair of boots to get through the winter. I have never experienced frostbite in the 10 winters I’ve worked in central Ontario. I reached out to Kodiak with an explanation of my experience, including photos of my frostbitten toes, and they didn’t even acknowledge the suffering I had experienced in their boots, simply denied the claims. I had to debate in order to be refunded. They eventually agreed to refund me under the condition that I send photos of the boot destroyed. The request to destroy the boots was the cherry on top in my opinion. Such a waste of a boot that could have been donated as an alternative. My experience with their inaccurate product performance claim, and their emotionally void customer service, has lead me to conclude that I will not be supporting their brand or recommending it to anyone I know for that matter. If you want a good winter work boot, go with Helly Hansen"

Q&A

Will these be too warm to use all year round?
Yes, if working outdoors in the summer. We recommend Widebody 6” or 8”: https://www.kodiakboots.ca/en/mens-kodiak-generations-widebody-6%22-waterproof-composite-toe-safety-work-boot/4TGB.html?dwvar_4TGB_color=brown https://www.kodiakboots.ca/en/mens-kodiak-generations-widebody-8%22-waterproof-composite-toe-safety-work-boot/4TGC.html?dwvar_4TGC_color=black
Are they too hot for the summer?
Widebody Warm has a robust insulation package of 600 gm Thinsulate, and I would believe too be over insulated for the summer months.
what width are the available in
All of our [Widebody boots](https://www.kodiakboots.ca/en/men/men-collections/men-widebody) are made on a 4E last, which is a very generous wide width.
